I am lucky that my family loves taking photos and keeping them. I have black and whites of my great great grandparents, I mean it's that serious. It is having a piece of your family history. With the move to the new condo I am going to be hanging so many photos...old photos of my family.
As technology is taking over, I feel saddened by the lack of "hard copies", not online, but in a frame or in a real album. I mean how do we plan to pass them along to our children. Are we gonna say, "Oh look on my facebook, I think I was tagged." Where is the magic in that. Luckily my mom has instilled in me a passion for scrapbooking. Had she not, I probobly would have never seen this photo. This is a picture of my grea great granparents with a lot of their kids, their grandkids, and their great grand kids (my mom is in the front on the right, the middle girl with the uniform on).
Through seeing pictures I have gained an interest in my family, not just those whom I se everyday, but those who have passed.
These photos helped shape my family and how great they are. Here is my great aunt recieving an honors diploma from thr Emperor Haile Selassie. I have learned to respect them more, because in a sense I know them more than I could have without the photos.
Even now, as I take photos on my digital camera, it's not only my intention to put them on face book, but to have them in my hands to pass them along to my children, so they know who their family is.
